Job Description:
The Space Superiority Division in the Space Systems Sector is seeking a Chief Systems Engineer to lead the technical execution of a space command and control development program.
This individual will provide program technical guidance and oversite to the Systems Engineering team on a Department of Defense / Intelligence Community concept innovation/execution rapid prototyping program.
This position will develop a common technical approach for innovation and harmonize the prototyping development across the various government provided equipment/SW concepts for the program.
The SE team will be responsible for developing several target prototype concepts and developing those concepts through transition to each respective customer.
They will integrate with GOTS, COTS, third party applications and services into each prototype architecture.
Additional responsibilities will include facilitating close collaboration with the customers and key stakeholders throughout all phases of each prototype's lifecycle for the programs mission space through regular and continual communication.
The ideal candidate will have experience in space, ground & sea domains, with a focus on space intelligence dissemination for their prototyping background.
The candidate will also be required to have an understanding of government security requirements and Information Assurance technology and techniques.
This individual will work in Northern Virginia area and Travel around CONUS will be required.
Essential Functions:
Perform hardware/software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation Develop system specifications, creation and enforcement of interface control documents, system risk management, and system configuration management Responsibility for verifying all requirements are met using the approved verification method and documenting the verification results Assist programs by creating concept models, prototype simulations, and trade space analysis in support of national security space related prototyping activities Cross-domain solutions, multilevel security, failure prediction using machine learning, rapid integration of geographically disparate resources Rearchitecting legacy systems for the cloud Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluations alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include:
concept, design, and operations Use modeling and simulation analyses to support design validation and mission benefit analyses Develop new algorithms/ processes, enhance current tool capabilities, & research emerging technology Interact with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables under guidance of senior technical personnel Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts to enhance mission operations Support development of technological concepts to improve system performance & mission capabilities May act as a technical lead for limited aspects of a project Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Physical or Computer Science, and 12
years of related systems engineering experience, OR, Masters's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Physical or Computer Science, and 10
years of related systems engineering experience Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance to start.
Experienced with Space related Intelligence Dissemination, Rapid Prototyping, Design Mission Areas Experienced with projects heavy in SW development and rapid integration into working prototype Experienced in the preparation of technical papers, trades, systems engineering process modification, throughout all phases of the development lifecycle and proposal lifecycle development Experienced in prototype deployments during Advanced Warfighting Experiments or Demonstrations Demonstrated success managing large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance, involving large cross-functional teams.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience with initial concept development and rapid acquisition (10 day turn around) Experience conducting briefings to senior leaders and customers and leading technical interchanges with industry partners Presentation skills and ability to present technical concepts well in front of customer Experience guiding, coaching and training other employees across the Company within area of expertise.
Experience with operational space-based and/or ground based Space Domain Awareness (SDA) sensor operations or IT.
Experience with Space Intelligence Dissemination or Space architectures Mission Area Experience with Rapid Prototyping (6-12 month delivery) Experience with Space based satellite operations and systems architectures Experienced in Continuous integration and or Agile Development techniques Experienced with various DoD & IC warfighter systems operational CONOPS Experienced and has developed innovative approaches to accelerate schedule or reduced development costs while maintaining good engineering principles & adhering to the intent of Corporate processes Experienced in setting up new development projects in a schedule driven environment Experienced with Unified Modeling Language (UML) and System Modeling Language (SysML) Experienced with radar and/or electro-optical space operations and system architectures Familiarity with radar and electro optical sensors used to detect and track space objects Familiarity with geosynchronous, highly elliptical, low, and medium earth orbit mission operations / analysis Familiarity with cyber security requirements and processes with respect to design implementation Flexibility to travel for customer purposes Job Profile Matching Criteria:
