Civil Engineering Technician
Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure's Chantilly, VA office is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to support our growing Civil and Water Resources Engineering Group in the delivery of various design projects and assist in the preparation of construction drawings for stormwater management, Low Impact Development, civil infrastructure design, stream restoration, solid waste design, erosion and sediment control, and other civil and related site design.
Key Responsibilities
Support experienced group of civil and water resources engineers in the execution of various civil engineering design projects
Assist with the preparation of conceptual design documents and construction plans, including but not limited to site plans, erosion control and grading plans, utility and road profiles, cross sections, and construction details, in compliance with applicable specifications
Work collaboratively in a team environment to facilitate successful project execution
Some travel / field work may be required (typically local)
Skills / Qualifications
Proficiency using AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with MicroStation is a plus
Ability to leverage Civil 3D design tools and surfaces to automate profile and cross section creation, estimate earthwork quantities and corridor grading is a plus
Civil site design and stormwater management related experience preferred
Municipal or Federal design experience is a plus
Geographic Information System (GIS) experience is a plus
Part-time or on-call employment may be possible
