GENERAL STUDENT TRAINEE (SECURITY)

The NRO student trainee internship program provides students pursuing advanced education with paid opportunities to work at NRO and explore career paths related to their academic field of study or career interests. Summer interns are full-time employees on a temporary appointment for the period of May- August. After successfully completing the initial summer assignment, interns may be approved by the Student Internship Program to work full-time during winter breaks. These opportunities are highly competitive. Applicants must be US citizens, have a strong academic record (cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above on a 4.0 scale), and possess outstanding communication skills. To be eligible to participate in NRO's Student Internship Program applicants must meet the following requirements. 1. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, and at least 18 years of age. 2. Applicants must be currently enrolled at least half-time in a U.S. Department of Education Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP) two-year or four-year College or University. 3. Applicants must be enrolled in a Baccalaureate Graduate, or Post-Graduate degree program with coursework related to NRO'S mission. 4. Applicants who have completed a baccalaureate program in a U.S. Department of Education Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (DAPIP), and are in the first semester of a subsequent degree program at the time of application (i.e. just started a graduate program after previously completing or will be completing a bachelor's previous to start of internship) will be required to submit the final transcript from their previous degree program during the application process. 5. All selectees will be required to submit an updated official transcript prior to first day of the internship. 6. Applicants must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information, or TS/SCI with Polygraph. 7. Applicants will be tested for illegal drug use and subject to random drug testing. 8. Must have a Minimum GPA of 3.20 or higher To qualify for the GG-05:
Applicant must be currently enrolled at least half-time in a Department of Education Accredited Post-secondary Institution and Program (DAPIP) two-year or four-year College or university. Must be enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program with coursework related to NRO's mission. Minimum GPA of 3.20 or Higher. Ability to work within a team or collaborative environment. To qualify for the GG-07 level:
Applicant must be currently enrolled at least half-time in a Department of Education Accredited Post-secondary Institution and Program (DAPIP) College or University. Applicants who have completed a baccalaureate program, and are in the first semester of a subsequent degree program at the time of application (i.e. just started a graduate program after previously completing or will be completing a bachelor's previous to start of internship May/June 2021) will be required to submit the final transcript from their previous degree program during the application process. In addition, an ideal candidate would possess basic skill in using office automation programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, or other desktop software programs. Additionally, the ability to organize work and communicate effectively in a professional environment are highly desirable traits.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
